It was Valentine's Day, so we could not resist the theme of a love themed Messy Church. Looking at 1 Corinthins 13, we learned all about perfect love. We filled "Love is ........ " bags with all the good things about love, burned pieces of paper to show we had forgiven and forgotten the things that others had done against us and made special pictures and bead ornaments to give to those we love. As love protects, we made a wildlife box for bees and other small creatures to shelter in for the Churchyard. Even our rolls and bacon were heart shaped and we finished with heart shaped biscuits that we had decorated ourselves.
Love begins with God.
God sent Jesus to show his love for us
We can have a new beginning by turning and following Jesus.
Then we need to grow—in faith and hope and love.
Love is not just a feeling but is very practical and can be hard work. But, in the end, love is the most important thing
This extract from a letter, written by the Apostle Paul, tells us a bit about what love is and what love is not…
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 - Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
